At St Thomas Catholic Primary School we live our school motto ‘Forward in Faith’.
The anchor in our school crest symbolises stability and strength in the love and hope we place in Jesus. Jesus is our anchor, faith is strengthened by hope and love.
The cross symbolises St Thomas’ profession of faith in the Resurrection as he proclaimed, ‘My Lord and my God’, the clearest declaration of Jesus’ divinity in Holy Scripture.
St Thomas places importance on its Catholic identity, is in partnership with the Catholic Parish of the Lower North Shore and the ongoing commitment to giving witness to the charism of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart who founded the school in 1928. Our school embraces the values of Mary MacKillop Justice, Hope, Collaboration, Compassion, Citizenship and Stewardship.
The charism of The Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart continues today and is evident in the school community’s pastoral care and culture of belonging. Saint Mary MacKillop of the Cross’ motto of ‘Never see a need without doing something about it’ is as relevant to the St Thomas community today as it was when the Sisters were invited to staff the school in 1928.
